From a Glen Dale Basement to a Global Software Partner

In the 1990s, businesses throughout the Ohio Valley struggled to find local experts who could help them implement and support Peachtree Accounting Software (now Sage 50). Recognizing the need for knowledgeable, personalized support, Shirley Byard stepped in to help local companies get the most from their accounting systems.
What began as a passion for helping businesses work smarter eventually grew into something much larger.
In 2005, Shirley founded Best Business Strategies from the basement of her home in Glen Dale, West Virginia. Armed with expertise, determination, and a commitment to exceptional customer service, she built the company one client at a time. Just three years later, her dedication to helping customers succeed earned Best Business Strategies the prestigious Sage Rising Star Award.
A Family Business Built on Relationships
In 2010, Best Business Strategies became a true family business when Shirley’s son, Allen Byard, joined the company. Allen went on to become the only Certified Act! Consultant in West Virginia, allowing the company to expand its expertise beyond accounting software and into customer relationship management solutions.
Together, Shirley and Allen continued growing the business while staying true to the values that made it successful from the beginning: honest advice, practical solutions, and treating every customer like family.
