Best Business Strategies is led by Mother & Son duo Shirley & Allen Byard
Best Business Strategies has been in the Ohio Valley since 2005. In the 1990’s, many local businesses sought out Shirley Byard’s expertise with Peachtree accounting software because there were no local Certified Consultants in the area. Thus, Shirley started Best Business Strategies as a one-woman endeavor in the basement of her home in Glen Dale, WV with no customers!
Over the past 10 years, Best Business Strategies has changed office locations twice and has grown to a six-person team. Not only are we serving the Upper Ohio Valley, but also now serve the entire United States and many International countries as well!
Best Business Strategies is proud to be the Sage 50 Top Reseller 2014-Present in North America. We are currently members of the Wheeling Area & Marshall County Chambers of Commerce and an accredited member of the Better Business Bureau.
Shirley is a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School & West Virginia University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She was a former National Bank Examiner; former partner of “The Tax Doctors” – where she prepared tax returns for 13 years with Robert Galbreath; Former CFO “Mansuetto Barns Culler” Advertising Agency; former Staff Accountant for a CPA firm and various businesses throughout the Ohio Valley specializing in Jewelry, Demolition, Rental Units & Printing.
Shirley Byard has an extensive background using Sage 50 & Peachtree Accounting Software. She has performed multiple conversions and brings forth experience helping various industries including non-profits, retail, service, distribution, manufacturing, & construction with the software. Her involvement assisting diverse companies has given her the edge to help your company be the best it can be.
Shirley is married and has two children and three grandchildren. In her “spare” time, she enjoys attending church activities, watching HGTV, gardening, crafting, and Murder Mystery dinners. FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR: Mint Chocolate Chip
Allen Byard
ACT! Certified Consultant (ACC)
Allen has been ACT! Certified since 2010. He attended school at West Virginia University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Multiple Disciplinary Studies (B.MDS.); Three minors of: Economics, Communications, and Advertising. Allen is the first ever and only Certified Consultant in the state of West Virginia. He is very passionate about helping others in finding business solutions.
Allen has two dogs Rooney & Luna. He enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, traveling, & playing sports. FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR: Strawberry Cheesecake
A.D. Rutter served in the Army and National Guard for over 41 years and as a manager at PPG Industries. After retiring from the military as an Army Command Sergeant Major and PPG Industries, A.D quickly realized retirement was “not for him.” Shortly after, Shirley met A.D. and saw him as a natural born salesperson. In 2018, he joined Best Business as our Check and Forms Sales Representative.
A.D. must always stay busy. He enjoys yard work and attending church activities. FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR: Chocolate Almond

Front Office Manager
Brenda joined Best Business Strategies in 2012. She is the voice of Best Business Strategies. If you have ever called Best Business Strategies, chances are you have talked to Brenda. She is our front office manager & also processes sales.
Brenda enjoys spending time with her family, cats & dogs. She enjoys traveling & crochet. FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR: Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl
Bookkeeping & Payroll
Charlotte has a Bachelor of Accounting from West Liberty University. She joined Best Business Strategies in 2016. Using Sage 50, she performs bookkeeping and payroll for our clients.
Charlotte is a busy mom and grandma. Traveling to her daughters’ dance competitions keeps her occupied. FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR: Salted Caramel
Website/Marketing Specialist
Kara has a BBA degree from Waynesburg University & a MSIR from West Virginia University. She joined Best Business Strategies in 2013. Her duties include website maintenance, SEO, & marketing blast.
Kara’s two teen daughters and dog keep her entertained. She enjoys baking, crafts, & reading. FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
